Surfsol is our proprietary solvent-additive system designed to treat heavy crude or high-viscosity feedstocks by:
- Supporting sustainability by lowering energy input, enabling lower pressure/temperature operations, and enabling recycling of by-products.
- Interrupting asphaltene and paraffin chains, reducing viscosity and improving flowability.
- Enabling more efficient downstream processing (centrifugation, vacuum flashing, density-based separation) to yield lighter-end hydrocarbon fuels.
The process
From Crude to Cleaner Fuel. Step-by-step.
- Crude feedstock enters stock-tank → pre-analysis of viscosity, API gravity, sulfur, asphaltene content.
- Injection/mixing of Surfsol additive as viscosity-reductant; mixing via centrifugal or positive-displacement pumps.
- Heating / spray-cracking / vacuum-flashing reactor: atomised crude particles separated into lighter fractions.
- Multi-stage horizontal reverse condensate condenser + GVF centrifuges separate designer fuels by density (C1–C5 chains) and remove heavy impurities.
- Closed-loop recycling of gases, reuse of process energy, minimised emissions.

Surfsol supports the sustainability agenda of oil-field operators and refiners in several ways. The product is non-hazardous, non-flammable and biodegradable, with no flashpoint and no chlorinated solvents or phosphates, which simplifies handling and reduces environmental risk.
By unlocking trapped oil and reducing viscosity, Surfsol enables more efficient production from existing wells and infrastructure, reducing the need for new drilling and high-energy thermal methods.
